CUSMA Rules and Canadian Warehouse Operations: What Shifted at the Dock
CUSMA came into force on July 1, 2020 and fundamentally changed how Canadian warehouses handle inbound cargo from the US and Mexico. The rules of origin thresholds, tariff schedules, and release documentation shifted overnight. Most importers and 3PLs are still running legacy procedures that don't fully account for what CUSMA actually requires on the dock floor.
